Since I started using PN, I find that I have much less need for further editing in PS, which used to take a great deal of time and effort. I do not use Lightroom and am increasingly happy that I don't. I agree wholeheartedly that Photo Ninja is the current king of the raw convertors, but it is not a replacement for Photoshop, if you want to do local adjustments or any number of other pixel level edits. Very natural skintones.Ĭapture One Pro 7 suppose to be very good as well. Try photo Ninja, best raw conversion in the market. So far though, I think I shall have to continue to use Lightroom coupled with CS3. Any other suggestions as to suitable software? I do intend to try Perfect Photo Suite (OnOne software). I've tried Pictocolor skin tone correction but find it not very accurate I'm loath to try any other approach as I frankly don't fancy paying up front and then finding it doesn't do what I want! Being partially colour blind, this enables me to accurately control skin tones, something that is extremely difficult for me within the RGB or LAB colour modes. The only thing I would miss from Photoshop is the ability to convert a photo to CMYK mode and correct tones in that mode using the averaging dropper. I'm currently using CS3 extended, which I installed (as a teacher, now retired) some years ago.
